Wild Boar are difficult to handle, breed once a year and produce small litters. By crossing with a rare breed they are slightly easier to handle and produce more piglets, although the Wild Boar qualities seem to abound, with most piglets being brown striped escape artists!
The Rare breed herd are predominantly Oxford Sandy and Black pigs, noted for their many qualities, particularly the excellent temperament and mothering abilities, and producing succulent pork, fine bacon and excellent ham.
The herd is rules over by Fagin, the Wild Boar, whose face appears on our logo. He is quite a gentleman, but does things his way, in his own time!
